Damian Nelson of Varsity Eight Ltd in Banbury came to see us recently about a pair of garage doors for his new German property. Damian, who many people know locally, is currently refurbishing a fantastic property in Döttingen, a small village a mile or two down the road from the Nurburgring in the beautiful Eiffel forest area of Germany.
Damian asked us if we could fit a pair of insulated sectional garage doors at the new house complete with remote control operators. Coincidentally, our German manufacturers had the ideal products & Damian settled on the excellent Noverm iso 20’s in grey with Hormann’s steadfast Promatic operators taking the strain.
The doors were delivered directly to Damian’s property & when the installation had to be arranged, understandably, none of the guys here at Cherwell Doors really fancied the trip & we had to get the thumb screws out! (Only joking!) In fact, Simon pulled rank & Kevin drew the ‘long’ straw to make up the fitting team. Promising it was going to be hard work all weekend with not a moment to theirselves, they packed up their tools & headed to Calais one sunny September morning.
Installation begun on the day of arrival & by the end of day one the old doors were down & the majority of the framework fitted. Day two saw the job completed & the operators fitted & set up. Job done & our intrepid travelling engineers were free to enjoy themselves… at Damian’s insistence of course!
A night out with the lovely Sabine Schmitz, who most people know from her Top Gear appearances, followed, along with a couple of laps of the ‘ring’ in one of Damian’s sponsored vehicles. As you can see from the pictures they had an awful time!!!!!
A few days later they were back in Banbury & the normal hustle & bustle of Cherwell Doors ‘UK’! Another successful installation completed.
